Over the past six years, I have put a lot of time and effort into learning everything I can about technology and marketing. I want to use this knowledge and experience to help your business grow and help you learn more about marketing. I started lumu to do just that.
I came up with “lumu” because I think of digital marketing as the light that guides you to success in business and branding. Simply put, the lum represents the need to illuminate, while the u represents you.
But what good is an old, dull light that doesn’t illuminate the area it’s in? That’s where my digital marketing approach comes in. I provide customized solutions that help businesses illuminate in the competitive online world.
I was 12 years old when I first started learning how to create content and upload it to YouTube. I began with a random channel called GOJAGS555. The content I uploaded was totally random and pointless. But the important part of starting this first channel was that I realized how much I liked video editing. Though the content on the channel is not valuable, it now has a total of 200,000+ views.
As my passion for video production continued, I started a new channel called MC5 Productions. That channel now has over 250,000 views, which is a big accomplishment for me since I created all that content when I was only 13. I filmed, edited, and did everything myself. The videos were generally of me showcasing my video production skills. I learned Adobe After Effects in depth through growing this channel. I also began to learn Adobe Photoshop. I began to enjoy graphic design more than motion design, so I started yet another YouTube Channel. Check out how I progressed as a motion designer in the video below.
When I was 14, I shifted my focus on graphic design and started Legit Designz. At first, I wasn’t good at what I did. But after a year or so, I really knew my way around Photoshop and After Effects. I grew the channel to a height of 2,500+ subscribers. I grew the channel through uploading quality content like tutorials, graphic design progressions, and videos I edited. I also collaborated with other channels and learned some basic marketing and advertising strategies. What was once a random hobby turned into a small business where I could make a little bit of money and help others brand their channels. People would pay me a little bit of money for 3D motion design, graphic design, and to edit their videos. The key to my success was consistency, which I realized after I stopped uploading content. My subscriber base wasn’t active once I got busy with my “real” job, school, and other things when I was 16-17. Yet, I took a lot of applicable graphic and motion design skills from these couple years of hard work. In addition, what I learned about business, content marketing, strategy, and sales has stuck with me to this day.
I currently go to Michigan State University. I will graduate in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Marketing. At the beginning of summer 2017, I began learning WordPress. My computer and design skills helped me to learn WordPress quickly. I am confident in my design skills, and can build any type of website in WordPress, as long as the investment in the website is there. I also took 20 hours of a Udemy course on web development in HTML/CSS. Knowing HTML/CSS has really helped me make my WordPress sites as customizable as possible. This knowledge also has allowed me to troubleshoot the code of the website and fix any issues. In the past year I have also learned many useful business skills. I know how to use Microsoft Excel to analyze data and solve business problems. I know how to properly route emails, create compelling business presentations, and much more. I still have a lot to learn, but my hard work ethic will always keep on me track to improve everything about my business skills. I hope you enjoyed reading about me and get in contact with me if you have any questions. Thank you!
